Do You Think Social Media Is Good For Teens?

Social Media is a computer-based technology that facilitates the sharing of ideas, thoughts, and information through the building of virtual networks and communities Social Media also originated as a way to interact with people, but was later adopted by businesses that wanted to take advantage of a popular new communication method to reach out customers. There are more than 3.8 billion social media users around the world. Social media is an ever-changing and ever-evolving field, with new apps such as TikTok and Clubhouse coming out seemingly every year, joining the ranks of established social networks like Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram.

Social media may take the form of a variety of tech-enabled activities. These activities include photo sharing, blogging, social gaming, social networks, video sharing, business networks, virtual worlds, reviews, and much more. Even governments and politicians utilize social media to engage with constituents and voters. For businesses, social media is an indispensable tool. Companies use the platform to find and engage with customers, drive sales through advertising and promotion, gauge consumer trends, and offer customer service or support.

There’s so many benefits of using social media because social media allows individuals to keep in touch with friends and family. Some people will use social media to find career opportunities, connect with people across the globe with like-minded interests, and share their own thoughts, feelings, and insights online. Businesses are also using social media marketing to target their consumers right on their phones and computers, building a following in order to build a loyal fan base, and create a culture behind their own brand. Some companies, such as Denny's have created entire personas on Twitter in order to market to younger consumers using their own language and personas.

Besides those benefits, social media also has a lot of bad effects if we use it improperly. Spending too long on social networking sites could be adversely affecting your mood. In fact, chronic users are more likely to report poor mental health, including symptoms of anxiety and depression. While social media makes it easier to meet new people and make friends, it also enables cruel people to tear into others with little effort. And lastly, Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) is a phenomenon that was born around the same time as the rise of social media. Unsurprisingly, it's one of the most widespread negative effects of social media on society.

Therefore, social media is actually a good platform for teenagers, if it can be used properly, otherwise it will have a bad impact that is as big as the good impact. We should carefully sort out which ones we should take and share on social media, because it can have an impact on other people and the larger community as well considering the very wide spread of social media. Each of these things must have good and bad, depending on how we can take advantage of it for ourselves.
